When is the GTA (Grand Theft Auto) 6 Release Date?
Grand Theft Auto is one of the most popular video game series in the world. Created by
Rockstar Games, the series is centered around living life as a criminal. A new addition to the
GTA series hasn’t come out since the arrival of GTA 5 in 2013, but the game is still widely played. The following is what is currently known about the GTA 6 release date.
While there are plenty of rumors and speculations surrounding the GTA 6 release date,
Rockstar Games has yet to confirm the creation of the game. An unveiling of the game could potentially arrive in 2020 or 2021, but it’s unlikely that the release will come sooner than this.
With both the PS5 and Xbox Series X game consoles releasing later in 2020, it would be
unsurprising if the announcement is made alongside these console releases, or soon afterward.
GTA 5 is Still Popular
Many fans of the GTA series are patiently waiting for new information to come out about GTA 6.
Due to the lasting popularity of GTA 5, Rockstar Games isn’t under much pressure to release the next entry into the series. Players are continuing to spend money on the game through microtransactions. These microtransactions within the online portion of the game allow players to purchase in-game items with real money. Rockstar Games will most likely look to earn as
much revenue from this system as they can before releasing GTA 6.
The Game Design Process is Extensive
Designing an open-world multiplayer game with maps that are as large as the ones in the GTA
series requires a significant amount of time and effort to complete. The storyline of the campaign takes hours of writing for the scripts, and each cutscene within the game has to blend in with the rest of the game seamlessly. The online portion of the game will also take time to work out all of the bugs and glitches that the playtest team finds. Games as detailed and large as GTA typically take years to complete, and even then, they may not be perfect upon release.
Consoles May See a Quicker Release
The previous entries in the GTA series were released on consoles before they made their way onto the PC. This means that GTA 6 could potentially be released on the PS5 and the Xbox
Series X consoles before releasing on the PC, but this is still unconfirmed.
